Starting XI | Fabiański starts as Hammers make five changes for final-day Ipswich Town visit

Graham Potter has made five changes to his West Ham United starting XI for Sunday’s final-day fixture away at Ipswich Town.

**Łukasz Fabiański** will draw the curtain on his iconic Hammers career by being on the pitch from kick-off at the home of the already-relegated Tractor Boys, and becomes the fourth oldest West Ham player to feature in the Club’s history at 40 years and 37 days, behind only Billy Bonds, Charlie Bicknell and Teddy Sheringham.

Fabiański - who replaces Alphonse Areola - will make his 195th appearance in the Premier League in Claret and Blue, and his 216th appearance in total for the Club. The former Poland international goalkeeper won the Hammer of the Year award in 2019 after joining from Swansea City the previous summer, and also collected a UEFA Europa Conference League winner’s medal in 2023.

He is seeking his 56th clean sheet on what is set to be an emotional afternoon in Suffolk, with Fabiański set to leave the Club at the end of his contract in June after seven seasons.

Elsewhere, **Dinos Mavropanos**, **Ollie Scarles**, **Edson Álvarez** and **Niclas Füllkrug** are called up for the trip to Portman Road, with Aaron Cresswell, Vladimír Coufal, Guido Rodríguez and Mohammed Kudus the four players who miss out.

Academy of Football graduate Scarles returns to the team for the first time since the away defeat by Liverpool on 13 April, since when he has played just once as a late substitute in the 1-1 draw against Southampton.

Meanwhile, Mavropanos, who was an unused substitute against Nottingham Forest last weekend, makes his first start since the 3-2 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in late April, having appeared as a late replacement in the draw with Tottenham Hotspur and the 2-0 victory at Old Trafford.

Mexico national team captain Álvarez has featured as a second-half substitute in our last two fixtures, and the 27-year-old returns to make his 20th Premier League start of the campaign, while Germany international forward Füllkrug is also recalled after being named on the substitutes’ bench for the Tottenham and Manchester United fixtures.

Otherwise, the same six players who started last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat against the Tricky Trees keep their places.

Ahead of Fabiański, the defence will be filled out by a central defensive three led by Maximilian Kilman, who has started every match this season, Jean-Clair Todibo and Mavropanos, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Scarles fill the wing-back berths.

Álvarez anchors the midfield alongside James Ward-Prowse, with Tomáš Souček playing in a more advanced role in front of them.

Captain Jarrod Bowen, who has either scored or assisted in all five of his previous league appearances against Ipswich, scoring four goals and setting up two, makes his 200th Premier League appearance at Portman Road.

Füllkrug completes the starting XI up front. The 32-year-old will be eager to add to the three goals and two assists he has recorded in just 717 minutes of Premier League action for the Hammers this season.

The substitutes’ bench will be filled out by three other players who will depart this summer in defenders Cresswell, who could make his 369th and final appearance for West Ham against the side he joined the Club from in July 2014, Coufal and forward Danny Ings

They will be joined by goalkeeper Areola, midfielders Andy Irving, Rodríguez and Lucas Paquetá, and forwards Luis Guilherme and Kudus.
