With Liverpool expected to strengthen using the transfer market as Premier League champions, plenty of attention is on Milos Kerkez. The Hungarian could end up playing in a Bournemouth shirt for the final time this afternoon.

Kerkez, 21, has impressed for Andoni Iraola's side this season, which put up a strong fight for European qualification. His performances have caught the eye of those not only in England but also in Europe, it would appear, with speculation rife over where he will be playing next season.

Liverpool, as named suitors, will be hoping it is they who can win the race and bolster their ranks for a shot at retaining the Premier League title and, who knows, maybe even go for Champions League glory. Here, we round-up the latest on Kerkez.

Transfer update

Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims talks between Liverpool and Bournemouth are ongoing over Kerkez's transfer once the summer window opens.

Taking to X, he said: "Understand negotiations between Liverpool and Bournemouth for Milos Kerkez remain underway. Liverpool remain favorites to sign the Hungarian left back as talks continue well — could be done soon. Kerkez remains very keen on the move, personal terms are not an issue."

Goodbye Bournemouth?

Along with every other Premier League team, Bournemouth play for the last time on Sunday as they host Leicester City.

Given that he may move, it could end up being Kerkez's last performance for the Cherries.

The defender has posted one last message before taking to the field. On Instagram he wrote: "Final game tomorrow, let’s go for it together."

Liverpool latest

As the ECHO reported, Liverpool are indeed the strong favourites to sign Kerkez over the summer. He is rated around £40m.

He has been a player of interest whilst continuing to impress on the south coast. He is also a player sporting director Richard Hughes understands well, having brought the Hungarian to the Premier League from AZ Alkmaar when in the same position at the Vitality Stadium two years ago.

The Reds are also closing in on Jeremie Frimpong for £30m and have opened talks over £125m-rated Florian Wirtz, both players for Bayer Leverkusen.

Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is also going to complete his £30m arrival this summer, after a deal was agreed with Valencia last year.
