Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has spoken out on his team selection ahead of the Red Devils’ final game of the season against Aston Villa. The Portuguese boss omitted a host of his usual stars, with Andre Onana, Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw, Joshua Zirkzee and Alejandro Garnacho not included in the matchday squad.
United went into Sunday’s clash off the back of European disappointment after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final on Wednesday evening. Onana, Yoro and Shaw both started that encounter, while Garnacho and Zirkzee featured from the bench. Garnacho described United’s season as “s***” in the aftermath of the midweek defeat and has reportedly been told by Amorim to find a new club this summer. Earlier on Sunday his partner alluded to an exit after writing “last match” on social media along with a crying emoji and a heart emoji.
After naming the United line-up on Sunday, Amorim explained: "Garnacho is a Manchester United player who is not in the squad today, but he continues to be a Manchester United player."
