Wrexham could target one Liverpool star to bulk out Phil Parkinson’s midfield next season.
Wrexham are set to bring in several new players this summer in what could be their biggest recruitment drive since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took ownership of the club.
In terms of recruitment, one area that there is a clear emphasis on overhauling is the centre of the park, with Wrexham being linked to several names already at this early stage.
Players who have been linked to Wrexham have been targeted because of their contracts expiring this summer, including Rangers’ Tom Lawrence. Fulham’s Tom Cairney has also been linked to Wrexham, but he looks more likely to stay at the Premier League club as things stand.
Because of this, Wrexham could splash out and target one player with proven Championship quality, and one that could be let go from Liverpool on the cheap.

Wrexham should target Liverpool star Tyler Morton to fill midfield void
If Wrexham are to show clear ambition ahead of the 2025/26 Championship season, one player they could target is Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton.
Morton has played a limited role for Liverpool this season amid injury issues, but did notch a substitute appearance in the Champions League for Arne Slot’s side.
The midfielder has vast Championship experience, having tallied two seasons of consistent football at Blackburn Rovers and Hull City, and a move to Wrexham, either in a permanent or a loan deal could be sanctioned by Liverpool, who clearly don’t have many plans for Morton.

Morton is a neat playmaker with a brilliant passing range, but also possesses the quality to make the difference in front of goal, something that would be very welcome in Phil Parkinson’s side.

What Jurgen Klopp once said about Tyler Morton
When looking for assurance that a player will be at a good enough level, there are not many voices to trust in world football, like former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
Back in 2021, when Morton was emerging from the Liverpool academy, Klopp was full of praise for the young midfielder, outlining one key strength that he had developed.
“You can see Tyler Morton,” Klopp said, per TNT Sports. “We have to send him to the gym as if he gets a body, he’s a brilliant footballer. There are some things to come physique-wise, but the football brain is outstanding.”
Since 2021, Morton has come on leaps and bounds physically, and is still without a ‘brilliant’ player who could make a difference for Wrexham.
