Manchester United have confirmed that Ruben Amorim will speak to the Old Trafford fans after the game against Aston Villa this afternoon.
It has become a tradition at United for the manager to speak to the supporters at the end of the final home match of the campaign.
Erik ten Hag used his speech last year to produce a rallying cry to the fans ahead of the FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium.
United would go on to win that game but Ten Hag was sacked just a few months later. Amorim's speech is set to be more sombre considering how bad the campaign has been.
On Wednesday night, defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final ensured that the club would not be playing European football next season.
After this loss, it was unclear whether Amorim would be addressing the supporters on the pitch at Old Trafford but, in an interview with MUTV, the Portuguese head coach confirmed his plans.
"I would say, Sunday, I will have the opportunity to speak to them after the game," he explained following the loss in Bilbao. "It's tradition in our club.
"It's hard to speak to the fans in this moment. So we have one more game in our home and we want to finish in a good way.
"Then I will have the opportunity to speak to our fans."
Despite all of the bad feeling around the club, the supporters have remained fully on board with Amorim as he aims to change the club's fortunes.
In terms of his team selection, Amorim had not picked Alejandro Garnacho in his squad after informing the forward he can leave if an acceptable offer is received. Goalkeeper Andre Onana has also been left out with Altay Bayindir starting.
