Everton beat Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday, with Anthony Gordon leaving the Toffees fuming.

David Moyes’ team travelled to St James’ Park on 25 May, with the hosts looking to secure their place in next season’s Champions League.

The Blues were level at the break after a first half that saw them create a few chances, with Jordan Pickford making some crucial saves on the other end, and Carlos Alcaraz gave them the lead in the 65th minute to seal a 1-0 win.

While emotions were controlled for most of the opening 45 minutes, the Tyneside outfit’s 24-year-old winger, who left the Merseyside outfit in 2023, left Ashley Young raging.

The 39-year-old was wary of the 24-year-old’s antics while going up against him and wasn’t pleased when he went down softly, telling the winger to get up.

Mike Dean also reacted to the ex-Toffees forward’s actions and had a cheeky response.

Speaking on Sky Sports News (25 May, 16:33), Dawson said: “Every time Gordon gets it, he’s running direct to Young. Young puts his hands up as if to say, I’m not going to touch you because I know you’re gonna go down. I’ve seen it again; he does that.

“Young is absolutely seething. He goes over to Gordon and says, get up, you’re diving. And I think he did.”

When asked about Gordon’s dive, Dean said: “Just a little bit of a dive.”

Moyes has built impressive team at Goodison Park

Moyes has been impressive in the Premier League, and further progress will be expected from him at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Scottish manager has turned the tide at Goodison Park after there were fears of relegation during Sean Dyche’s spell.

With the Blues set to finish 13th in the league table, it’s more than what fans had expected a few months back.

Everton fans aren’t too fond of Gordon after he left them midway through the season in 2023, as they were fighting a relegation battle.

The Toffees will now hope to start a new era at Bramley-Moore Dock in the upcoming campaign, and Moyes has done well to be backed in the upcoming transfer window.

With the Blues playing their final game of the season, plans will undoubtedly already be in place for next summer.

The Merseyside outfit’s fans have much to look forward to, and it’ll be interesting to see how things unfold in the coming months.
