Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson looks set to depart this summer.
Wilson has been an excellent player for Newcastle United over the years, scoring 49 goals for the club since joining from Bournemouth.
The striker played a key role in keeping the team in the Premier League during the Steve Bruce years and again proved excellent under Eddie Howe during the Champions League qualification season of 2022/23.
Injuries, however, have caught up. Wilson did not score a Premier League goal in 17 appearances during the 2024/25 campaign and is out of contract this summer.
Leeds want to sign Wilson, who looked to be in a high state of emotion following Sunday’s defeat to Everton.

Callum Wilson’s emotional goodbye to Newcastle United fans
An official update on his future hasn’t been made yet.
However, Wilson hasn’t earned a new contract at Newcastle and, at this stage, it would appear unlikely he will get one. Such an emotional reaction would surely suggest he’s ready to move on.
Indeed, after the loss to Everton, Wilson was in tears, as captured by Ciaran Kelly of The Chronicle.

Eddie Howe’s emotional talks with Callum Wilson
Howe worked with Wilson at Bournemouth too. In fact, under the Newcastle United manager’s watch, the forward has scored 100 goals in 282 games.
Prior to the Everton game, Howe confirmed he’d held emotional talks with Wilson. As has been the case for much of his Newcastle career, the 33-year-old has struggled with injury this season.
Still, that’s seemingly all in the past now. The injuries were frustrating but, by and large, Wilson more than repaid the money spent to sign him.
Alexander Isak may have taken his spot but it’s difficult to imagine Newcastle even being in a position to sign the Sweden star if it wasn’t for Wilson’s goals in the first place.
