The victory at Craven Cottage was significant as it secured our place in next season’s UEFA Champions League, but was also important as it was De Bruyne’s final appearance for City.

Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring with a spectacular overhead kick in the first-half, before Haaland rolled in a spot-kick with just under 20 minutes left to play to ensure a third-placed finish in the top-flight.

De Bruyne was brought on by manager Pep Guardiola for the final few minutes and the Belgian was serenaded one final time by our superb away supporters.

Speaking after the game in his interview with City TV, Haaland said: “It’s been amazing. It’s been an amazing time for me, together with him for three years.

“It’s been a pleasure to see him before I came here as well as a City fan, and we all wish him all the best.

“We all thank him for everything he has done for the Club and all the amazing moments he has been giving us.”

The striker also spoke about his delight at qualifying for the Champions League and urged everyone associated with the Club to keep this positive mindset ahead of the Club World Cup and for next season.
