David Moyes will be delighted to have seen his players not give up despite their fate being sealed ahead of the game on Sunday.

Regardless of results elsewhere, Everton were going to finish their campaign in 13th place.

Despite this, the Toffees put on a real show for the travelling fans who got to witness their incredible away form under Moyes continue.

Everton fans mocked Newcastle United’s fans by chanting Jordan Pickford’s song following the only goal of the game.

Spirits were certainly high in the away end, but Abdoulaye Doucoure was clearly emotional following full-time in what was his final game for the Blues.

How Abdoulaye Doucoure said goodbye to Everton fans

Abdoulaye Doucoure will depart Everton with his contract expiring over the coming days.

The Toffees were unable to come to an agreement with the Mali midfielder over a new deal who was handed one final opportunity to bid farewell to the Everton fans.

After the game, Doucoure was the final player to depart the pitch from an Everton perspective as he took every second he could to say goodbye.

Emotions were running high as the midfielder could be seen visibly upset from the press box.

Some of the Everton coaches provided their support for the 32-year-old as he was hugged by multiple members of the coaching staff as he exited the pitch.

Everton offered Doucoure a new contract but the midfielder is believed to have a better offer elsewhere.

Doucoure is not the only player who will be departing this summer, but he was certainly the most visibly upset.

Doucoure issued final Everton message after Newcastle win

The Friedkins could hand the midfielder a lifeline with AS Roma showing interest in Doucoure ahead of the summer market opening.

But his time on Merseyside is certainly over as the club have already confirmed his imminent exit.

Doucoure did not start the game on Tyneside as he only came on for the final 14 minutes, but he soaked up everything he could in his last game as an Everton player.

Following the game, he quickly took to social media to share his final thoughts.
