Liverpool are Premier League champions! And a month after clinching the title, Arne Slot’s men finally got their hands on the trophy at Anfield on Sunday as their 2024/25 season came to an end.

The Reds did not have things all their own way in the last game of the campaign as they were forced to come from behind to earn a share of the spoils against FA Cup winners Crystal Palace. And they had to contend with being reduced to 10 men too after Ryan Gravenberch was sent off in the second half.

But Mohamed Salah’s late equaliser cancelled Ismaila Sarr’s opener to ensure Liverpool’s season did not end in defeat, before the trophy celebrations could truly begin.

The ECHO was in attendance at Anfield to witness the Reds celebrate winning the Premier League trophy with supporters for the first time in 35 years! And here’s some of the moments that we spotted on a day to remember for Liverpool Football Club…

The Scouser in our team

Having been booed when brought on against Arsenal two weeks ago, making his first appearance for the Reds since confirming he would leave the club, Trent Alexander-Arnold received a very different reception when making his final appearance for his boyhood club.

Afforded a hero’s reception when introduced at half-time, Alexander-Arnold made his feelings for Liverpool clear come the final whistle too. He was visibly emotional and holding back the tears as he embraced his team-mates in the immediate aftermath of his final appearance for the club, before recomposing himself in time for the presentation.

Going up to receive his medal to loud cheers, he saluted all four corners of Anfield before beating and kissing the badge on his chest. He would then do the same when emphatically holding aloft the trophy to the Kop.

Supporters might not be happy to see Alexander-Arnold leave Liverpool, but wounds are healing as such ill-feeling was put to one side to celebrate winning the title.

Chiesa’s a Kopite now!

Federico Chiesa was rather sheepish when he was presented the Premier League trophy in front of the Kop.

But while his team-mates were holding it aloft once before passing it on, they insisted the Italian kept saluting the Kop when it was his turn.

After repeatedly lifting the trophy, the Liverpool squad then jumped on top of the forward before joining Anfield in an impromptu rendition of the Italian’s catchy chant.

It has been a frustrating season for Chiesa, starting only once in the Premier League since joining Liverpool. He could be forgiven for feeling a little embarrassed at receiving such a reception given his bit-part role. He wasn't even in the matchday squad against Crystal Palace after all. But his popularity in the dressing room and stands is clear regardless.

‘Only one Alan Hansen!’

Liverpool legend Alan Hansen was the man tasked with presenting Virgil van Dijk with the Premier League trophy and handing out winners’ medals to the Reds squad.

As both Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold waited for their turn, they embraced owner John W. Henry, his wife Linda Pizzuti and the rest of the Liverpool ownership group who were watching on from the side.

After being presented with the trophy, Van Dijk would later reunite with Hansen in front of the Kop as he insisted the Scot come over for a picture alongside him and hold aloft the trophy.

Anfield then responded with a chant of ‘There’s only one Alan Hansen’ in recognition of one of their greatest ever players in what was one of the most touching moments of the day.

Meanwhile, the Liverpool squad would make a point of taking the crown off the Premier League trophy and putting it on Salah's head as Anfield royalty was honoured all round.

Alisson leads the celebrations

After the podium celebrations concluded, the Liverpool squad quickly raced towards the Kop to continue the party. Only they were lacking the trophy!

Fortunately, Alisson Becker was on hand! The Brazilian made sure to grab the silverware before sprinting over to the rest of his team-mates and become the first player to salute the Kop with the trophy in hand.

And he would later earn even louder cheers after climbing onto the crossbar of the goal in front of the Kop.

Poor Harvey

With Arne Slot and Virgil van Dijk insisting the Liverpool squad return to the Kop with the Premier League trophy for a squad photo, the club’s media team was tasked with quickly rounding up a number of Reds players speaking to international broadcasters as interviews were swiftly cut short.

The likes of Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Ibrahima Konate and Alexis Mac Allister all sprinted over to join the rest of the ranks in the Kop goal.

But alas, one player was forgotten about. Harvey Elliott missed out on the photo as he was still on the halfway line speaking to LFC TV and had gone unnoticed as the rest of his team-mates were rounded up.

Poor Harvey. Don’t worry though, we suspect there will be plenty more team photos and snaps with the Premier League trophy as the title celebrations continue!
