The win sealed our third-place finish in this season’s Premier League, ensuring we’ll play in Europe’s premier competition for the 15th successive year.
While Guardiola has acknowledged that this term didn’t meet the otherworldly standards of recent campaigns, he says his players showed a brilliant fighting spirit.
“We needed to prove ourselves and we did that today, came here against this team and did it,” he said.
“It made me feel they still have something inside, they still have pride and they want to play the best in Europe. Today they proved it.
“That’s why I’m really pleased and thanks again to Kevin for his incredible contribution this month or months and a half, he played all the games, he made a contribution to help us make the Champions League next season.”
