Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali show their true colours as Chelsea gesture speaks volumes

Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali showed their true colours following Chelsea's 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest. Levi Colwill fired the Blues to victory at the City Ground on Sunday afternoon, breaking the deadlock shortly after half-time.

With Newcastle losing to Everton and Manchester United beating Aston Villa, Chelsea finished the Premier League season in fourth place on 69 points. The west Londoners have secured qualification for the UEFA Champions League following a two-year absence from the competition.

Upon the final whistle in the east Midlands, the Chelsea squad celebrated the result with the travelling supporters. Enzo Maresca was spotted blowing kisses into the away end, while Colwill pounded the badge and Jadon Sancho joked with Cole Palmer.

The team were quickly joined by the co-owners – Boehly and Eghbali – and the sporting directors – Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart – on the pitch. Boehly and Stewart, in particular, made an effort to congratulate the Blues boss.

Boehly and Stewart were spotted hugging Maresca after the game, while Winstanley embraced Malo Gusto. A visibly emotional Boehly was also spotted congratulating some of the players, enjoying chats with Reece James and Romeo Lavia.

The win against Forest comes just days after Boehly appeared at the Qatar Economic Forum with Bloomberg. On Tuesday, the Chelsea co-owner and chairman was quizzed on the ownership at Stamford Bridge.

"We have a good partnership," said Boehly. "Like every partnership, you have times that you have to work through and times that are better. We hit the ground running in such an intense timeline that it was a complex moment.

"We're through it and we're excited about what the future holds. We think we have one of the best young teams. We were early on doing seven, eight, nine-year contracts because we really wanted to make sure that we could keep the team together for a long time.

"In order to have a really good team, you need stability within the team environment. The only way that comes is through time. We set it up to be able to benefit from that."

On the summer, Boehly said: "We're going to the Club World Cup, so we are laser focused on the Club World Cup. We have some players that are joining us that weren't on the team - Andrey Santos, we're really excited about him and what he can add to the squad."

Boehly added: "We've done most of our investing. We're not looking at it as a spend, we look at it as an investment. We're trying to build the best portfolio of players that can perform at the highest level for the longest periods of time.

"We know what we need to do. We know the places that we need to invest. That's going to be our focus."

Boehly, Eghbali and the sporting directors will be hoping Chelsea finish the season with a piece of silverware. On Wednesday night, the west Londoners will lock horns with Real Betis at the Stadion Wrocław in the UEFA Conference League final.
