Jeremie Frimpong could link up with a Celtic hero at Liverpool ahead of his expected move to Anfield.
The Bayer Leverkusen defender is regarded as one of the best fullbacks in world football, and now the champions of England want to take him on board.
With Virgil van Dijk wearing the Liverpool armband, the former Celtic player will surely welcome his fellow countryman to Merseyside with open arms.
Van Dijk spent two seasons at Scotland’s most successful club, whilst Frimpong joined in 2019 from Manchester City as a fresh-faced teenager.
And since then, the 24-year-old has gone from strength to strength, as his former teammate, Christopher Jullien, watched him thrive up close and personal.

Christopher Jullien admits ‘everyone was surprised’ by Jeremie Frimpong at Celtic
Jullien moved to Celtic Park during the same summer window as Frimpong, and also spent a short period of time in Glasgow, but proved to be a fan favourite.
The centre-back explained how, from the get-go, Frimpong just ‘wasn’t a shy’ character, and that helped him on the field of play.
But Jullien did explain how the German title winner with Leverkusen ‘surprised everyone’ with how quickly he adapted to life at Celtic, as he told Redmen TV 2.

“When he arrived (at Celtic) and he just wasn’t a shy guy,” said Jullien. “I think that’s what makes him the guy that he is today.
“When he arrived, everyone was surprised at how fast he arrived and how fast he just became the player that he is. Really fast he became so important for our game. For everything. Just his quality, it wasn’t debatable. It was something else. A really, really good player. And we know what happens next.
“I remember when he arrived, it was like an international break. If I remember correctly, he was coming to do with the second team, and with the first team, some training, so he arrived at the international break. At that time, at Celtic, we had a lot of international players.
“He just showed all the ability that he has. All the strength that he has. In training, he was just really focused – since the day he arrived at Celtic, I had the feeling he wanted to show his ability, and that’s everything that he did.”
Frimpong is backed to be a success at Liverpool
Frimpong played 51 matches in total for Celtic, including winning the Treble, and then moving to Germany.

The Dutchman’s move to Liverpool hasn’t been confirmed yet, but he is being backed to be a success by Jullien.
The current Montpellier player explained that Frimpong is ‘by far’ the best right-back he has ever played with in his career.
“His wing was his,” added Jullien. “A lot of people are saying, he is only really focused on the offensive stuff. His speed just makes him so good in everything that he does.
“After when he arrived, I think and I remember, we kind of changed our side of playing. We played five at the back because we saw how powerful he was on the side – he was just something else.
“When we are at Celtic, we have a lot of possession. For the left side of the opponent, it was really, really tough for them. If this move happens for him, then I would be really happy for him. I think he is going to be close to the situation like he was at Celtic, and he is going to be part of something pretty.
“No hesitation, that is the best right back I played with, by far.”
