Croatia manager drops subtle hint on Luka Modric's next club

Real Madrid are going to part ways with Luka Modric after the Club World Cup. Modric has already said his goodbyes to the Santiago Bernabeu, when Real Madrid beat Real Sociedad on Saturday afternoon.

Still, fans will enjoy a few more games of Modric as a player for their team at the Club World Cup, and after that, they will have to say goodbye once again.

There is a replacement lined up, but no one will hit the same. Modric will be Modric, no matter who is brought in or developed to replace him.

The Croatian is far from done, however. His national team manager Zlatko Dalic came to the Bernabeu for the player's farewell on Saturday, and he was asked about what he thinks Modric's next club will be.

Zlatko Dalic thinks Luka Modric will stay at top level and fight for trophies

Dalic did not name-drop any team, but he said a reply that eliminates a few possibilities.

He said after the farewell: "Knowing Luka, he is only interested in one thing, high level games at a high level club.

"He does not want to have privileges or play somewhere just for money. He will go where he will fight for some things, for some trophies."

Well, that does narrow it down a tad. It shows that Modric still has the passion to continue as a top-level player.

Modric has also shown this season that while he has declined, he is still very much a great football player who can start in a number of top European teams.

This quote by Dalic basically takes out MLS and Saudi teams, because if it was about money, Modric would have moved to one of those countries.

Modric is clearly still very competitive and wants to challenge himself until the wheels fall off, so it might not be over for the Croatian at top level just yet.
