An utterly 'crazy' David Moyes statistic has just emerged as Everton finish on 48 Premier…

Everton have concluded their 2024/25 Premier League campaign, rounding off with a 1-0 win over Newcastle United.

It has been a season of two halves for Everton, with the second being truly memorable thanks to David Moyes.

Moyes came in at the start of the calendar year, after Sean Dyche told The Friedkin Group he’d taken Everton as far as he could.

For Moyes, it was always only about getting Everton safe, ahead of the move to Bramley-Moore Dock, which was recently named the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

But no one could have quite imagined he’d do as well as he has.

Everton have now finished their season in 13th place on 48 points – and a truly remarkable statistic has emerged which underlines how well Moyes has done.

Everton were in a world of trouble at Christmas.

While there was defensive solidity under Sean Dyche, there was just no bite at all in the final third.

It was unsustainable, and so, many were relieved when Dyche left.

Expectations weren’t too high when Moyes came in, but the Scot has done an incredible job – and now a fantastic bit of data has emerged.

As pointed out by journalist Alan Myers on X after the game, Everton would actually have survived in the Premier League had they started on 0 points when Moyes was appointed.

He said: “It’s crazy that we’d still avoid relegation with 6 points to spare with the points David Moyes won alone!”

Moyes and Everton a match made in heaven

It’s incredible to think Moyes only came in in January and amassed enough points to still survive relegation without any of Dyche’s points.

Granted, the three teams that have gone down have all had really poor seasons.

David Moyes’ second spell as Everton manager

Games managed – 20

Wins – 8

Draws – 7

Losses – 5

PL points taken – 31

But take nothing away from Moyes; this statistic really does show what a tremendous job he’s done.

It’s funny now to think that some were not on board with Moyes being re-appointed.

He and Everton are simply a match made in heaven and, with some good backing this summer from TFG, the club will hopefully be able to actually push for Europe next season.
