Bruno Guimaraes drops subtle hint on his Newcastle United future after securing Champions…

Newcastle United’s captain Bruno Guimaraes has commented on his future at the club after confirming they will play in the Champions League next season.

In his first season as club captain, the Brazilian has done the impossible on Tyneside. A long-awaited cup win and now Champions League qualification have ensured that the 2024/25 Premier League campaign will go down as one of the best in living memory at Newcastle United.

Bruno Guimaraes has been an integral part of Eddie Howe’s squad this season, playing every single Premier League game and proving to be a model player whom many should look up to.

If the Carabao Cup win in March did not cement his legendary status at Newcastle, then Champions League qualification surely has. However, there has been speculation over his long-term future at the club after reports suggested he has attracted interest from clubs across the globe.

It was recently reported that two Saudi Pro League clubs wanted Guimaraes. It comes after Newcastle had to fend off interest from Manchester City and PSG in 2024.

With Champions League football now confirmed, Guimaraes has dropped a subtle hint on his future at Newcastle in the midst of all the exit rumours.

Bruno Guimaraes eyes future with Newcastle United after Champions League qualification

Newcastle do not need to sell Guimaraes this summer as their financial accounts are looking much more healthier than they were in 2024 where Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh were forced to leave to help the club out of a £60m PSR blackhole.

Instead, Newcastle are expected to welcome new players this summer to help them with their upcoming European campaign.

Thankfully, it looks like Newcastle will also have Guimaraes on their roster after he hinted that his future is likely to be on Tyneside for the foreseeable future.

Speaking to Sky Sports News after Newcastle’s 1-0 loss to Everton at St James’ Park, Guimaraes said: “Feel very well, feel unbelievable. I think for me, it has been an unbelievable year. First year as a captain, played 38 of 38 games in the Premier League. I’m very, very happy.

“Winning a trophy for this club. What a season. I will always remember this one. I’m very, very happy and proud of our team, of myself, of these fans. Next season, we go back again. We never stop. We’ve won a cup, but we want more.”

His mention of next season will lead many to believe that he is happy to stay at the club for another season and captain Newcastle for the upcoming Champions League campaign.

Alexander Isak likely to stay at Newcastle United after Champions League qualification

While Guimaraes’ future looks clear at Newcastle, Alexander Isak’s future has been a big topic of discussion this year.

The Swede has been linked with moves to Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona, but has reiterated that he was waiting to see what happens at the end of this season before deciding his future.

Reports in January stated that Isak wanted Champions League football to stay at Newcastle, and now the Magpies have done exactly that.

Newcastle want to give Isak a new contract, and Champions League football puts them in a much better position to get him to sign.

Despite a quiet showing against Everton, Isak finished the season as Newcastle’s highest scorer in the Premier League with 23 goals.
