Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a move for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez this summer, as per a report from Fichajes.
The Gunners are pursuing a new centre-forward this summer, with it becoming apparent in the 2024/25 season that the lack of an outright centre-forward to lead the line has hindered their chances of winning major titles.
Boss Mikel Arteta and his entourage have drawn up a shortlist of several options, including the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres. However, with Atletico Madrid potentially open to parting ways with Alvarez, Arsenal could be in line to take advantage of the market opportunity.
Arsenal Interested in Atletico Madrid Ace Alvarez
The forward has a number of suitors in Europe
According to Fichajes, Alvarez could be on the move this summer if his employers receive a suitable offer for his signature. Arsenal are among the clubs interested, alongside Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
It is likely Atletico Madrid demand a fee greater than the £81 million they invested initially to bring the "unbelievable" Argentina international from Manchester City last summer, and an offer of around €100 million (£83 million) is believed to be enough to lure Alvarez away from the Metropolitano stadium. New Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta could leverage relations at his previous club to construct an appealing deal for the North Londoners.
One of the best strikers in world football, Alvarez enjoyed a scintillating first season with the Colchoneros. He registered 29 goals in 54 appearances across all competitions, providing another six assists for his teammates in the process.

Additionally, he has already starred in the Premier League during his time under Pep Guardiola. The 25-year-old was previously deployed as a second striker next to Erling Haaland, and the pair formed a devastating partnership in attack. Arteta could look to recreate a similar dynamic with Alvarez playing off of target man Kai Havertz next season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have held an interest in Sesko and Gyokeres, both of whom could be acquired at a cheaper price than Alvarez, and reports suggest the former is Arteta's number one target for this summer.
