Two departing West Ham stars wanted by Ryan Reynolds but Leeds offer PL stay for one

Two stars who have just said goodbye to West Ham are wanted by megastar Ryan Reynolds for a Hollywood glamour move to Wrexham but Leeds United have other ideas.

While it has been a dismal campaign for West Ham, it has been quite the opposite at Wrexham and Leeds United.

Wrexham have been on the rise ever since being taken over by Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds and fellow actor Rob McElhenney.

The Red Dragons celebrated promotion to the Championship this season, where they will replace Premier League-bound Leeds United.

The Elland Road outfit are said to be hugely ambitious this summer with a £100m plus budget.

Wildly contrasting seasons for West Ham, Wrexham and Leeds

As a result West Ham, who squeaked to a 14th place finish with a 3-1 win at Ipswich on the last day of the season, will need to improve massively next term.

West Ham’s game at Portman Road marked a big farewell for at least eight players.

Aaron Cresswell, right-back Vladimir Coufal, Lukasz Fabianski and Danny Ings are all being released on free transfers.

Loan duo Evan Ferguson and Carlos Soler are not being retained and will return to Brighton and PSG respectively.

A decision will be taken on West Ham forward Michail Antonio, who is also out of contract next month as things stand.

And the likes of Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta – should he beat spot-fixing charges – will be sold.

With PSR a major issue for the Hammers, almost all players bar Jarrod Bowen and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be open to offers.

Leeds have already been heavily linked with Tomas Soucek and his Czech mate Coufal.

Now two departing West Ham stars are wanted by Wrexham chief Reynolds but Leeds offer a Premier League stay for one.

Wrexham Insider has reported that striker Ings has an offer on the table from Reynolds.

The Welsh side want the Hammers’ £15m striker flop to help get them the goals in the Championship that might blast them straight up to the Premier League.

Ings would have to take a significant wage drop given he’s been on £125k per week at the London Stadium for the last two-and-a-half years.

But Wrexham have proved they’re willing to pay top money by offering Fulham’s Tom Cairney £50k per week to drop down to the second tier too.

Ings could be joined at the Racecourse by close friend Cresswell.

That’s according to journalist Alan Nixon, who made the claim after the 35-year-old defender brought the curtain down on 11 years at West Ham against his old club Ipswich.

Leeds rival Wrexham to offer Cresswell Premier League stay

Sun journalist Nixon says Wrexham want to offer Cresswell a contract.

And he cites the fact the long-serving Hammer has a base in Merseyside as a reason he might ‘fancy a crack at joining the North Wales outfit in the Championship’.

Nixon claims the former Tranmere Rovers defender is keen to play on and Wrexham will ‘gladly offer him that opportunity’.

But Leeds are also weighing up a contract offer to Cresswell.

Daniel Farke wants Cresswell as a squad player for their return to the big time.

While West Ham are waving goodbye to over 25 years of experience with their decisions on a host of senior stars, Leeds are desperate to add some veteran nous.

The problem for Leeds is that Wrexham are telling Cresswell he will be a key player and Nixon says Reynolds ‘may be able to put together a package that makes them more attractive’ despite dropping a division.
