'Huge': Eddie Howe pleased as Newcastle manager confirms imminent talks with PIF

Newcastle United have just enjoyed the most remarkable season in their modern-day history.

After winning the Carabao Cup in March, Newcastle United followed that up with another huge achievement.

Despite the fact Eddie Howe’s side lost to Everton on the final day of the Premier League season, Newcastle qualified for the Champions League ahead of Aston Villa on goal difference.

With the Champions League now back on the agenda, the Newcastle United manager will hope to build.

Owners PIF have been unable to spend much money in recent windows due to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). However, that could change this summer, with Newcastle confident they are in a healthy PSR position.

Now, Howe is excited about what lies ahead.

Eddie Howe to hold transfer talks with Yasir Al-Rumayyan

Speaking after a dramatic final day of the season, Howe confirmed he will talk to chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan and the rest of the Newcastle United owners about their transfer plans this summer.

During his post-match press conference, Howe said having the Champions League on offer next season will represent “huge” pulling power.

“The power and pull of the Champions League is huge,” he said.

“The excitement of people here but it’s a selling point for the club. We have to get the financials right and every aspect right.”

He then confirmed he is set for talks with the club’s top brass about building for the future.

“I will have a discussion with the chairman and representatives from PIF today so looking forward to that, trying to lay some foundations to what lays ahead in the summer,” he added.

“The planning and all the things that go on behind-the-scenes have been going on for a number of weeks to try and set things up for what we need to do.”

Newcastle United’s summer transfer budget after Champions League qualification

Newcastle could spend £150million this summer after qualifying for the Champions League.

That would be a welcome boost for Howe. He’s done a remarkable job in getting the Newcastle United squad to go again this season but, at some point, things will start to go stale without further incomings.

Thankfully, it seems as if things are changing. Newcastle look in a strong financial position again, albeit PSR rules make life difficult for every club around.

The idea of adding to this squad is seriously exciting. Hopefully, supporters get to see new faces arrive this summer.
