Bruno Guimaraes has made an honest admission about Newcastle United’s squad ahead of an incredibly important transfer window.
The Magpies qualified for the Champions League on Sunday, despite losing 1-0 to Everton at St James’ Park. It looked as if they were set for Europa League football next season, but Manchester United became their unlikely saviours by putting two past Aston Villa to take them out of the top five.
Newcastle United have now ended a truly memorable season, one which will go down as the best in living memory for many fans. After the success this season, the focus will now shift to the upcoming transfer window which Paul Mitchell has been preparing to manoeuvre in for months.
Eddie Howe lost several useful squad players in the previous two transfer windows and has taken a Newcastle side struggling with injuries back to the Champions League in what is a remarkable achievement.
With a huge summer transfer window ahead, Bruno Guimaraes has made a public plea to Newcastle chiefs that they must listen to.

Bruno Guimaraes tells Newcastle United chiefs to make more signings
This summer, Newcastle can spend as much as £150m, which is more than enough to sign their top targets.
Reports have stated that Newcastle want to do their transfer business early this summer to steal a march on their rivals, who have been first past the post in previous windows.
Newcastle fans are eager for new arrivals, and Guimaraes feels exactly the same. The Brazilian has made a big plea to Mitchell and Newcastle chiefs in an interview with Sky Sports.

“We have improved a lot, but I think we’re not at the level that I want,” Guimaraes said when asked about the team.
“I think for next season, we are going to need more players to be honest with you, because I think the squad is a little bit short.
“We have seen it last year when we played in the Champions League, we lost some players for injury and then it was busy for us. I think we can improve our level because next year, our season will have one more competition.
“We need to work hard now, have an amazing holiday. We need to improve of course but we’re very, very happy.”
Guimaraes has also hinted he is happy to stay at Newcastle. It comes after rumours circulated that two Saudi Pro League clubs were interested in signing him.
Eddie Howe completely agrees with Bruno Guimaraes’ Newcastle United transfer plea
After barely spending in the last three transfer windows, Newcastle are now in a position where they can add more players to their squad and make marquee signings.
The Magpies signed the likes of Sandro Tonali and Alexander Isak in recent summers, and now more high-profile names could move to Tyneside.
With Champions League football now secured, Howe has sent a clear message to the board at Newcastle to get the players he needs to be successful in Europe next season.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Howe said: “Speed is key for us & I have reiterated that many times internally. Speed is key because we have to be dynamic, we have to be ready to conclude things very quickly because good players don’t hang around for long.

“That’s always been my thought & my message on recruitment, because you can have a period when you think you have time – but then you look around quickly & you see that time has elapsed and you missed opportunities you won’t get again.
“That’s what we will be trying, but the reality of that is it’s not always in your hands – but we will do our best to do things early. The power of the Champions League is huge.
“It’s a selling point for us now, it’s an opportunity to sell that dream to future players that might be considering coming to us”
