The Red Devils were drawn in Group B, alongside European heavyweights AS Roma, Paris Saint-Germain, and Benfica.

United opened their campaign with a thrilling 3-2 win over Roma on Wednesday.

Celin Bizet and Ella Toone gave the Reds an early two-goal cushion before the Italian side fought back to level the match.

However, Grace Clinton ensured all three points for Marc Skinner’s side with the decisive goal.

The second group match saw Manchester United face Portuguese champions Benfica.

Bizet opened the scoring, while Simi Awujo bagged a brace to give United a comfortable 3-0 lead.

Benfica managed to pull one back late in the game, but United secured a 3-1 victory to make it two wins from two.

Their final group stage clash was against French runners-up Paris Saint-Germain.

United came from behind twice, with goals from Jess Simpson and Maya Le Tissier, before clinching the win via a penalty shootout.

In the semi-finals, Manchester United were pitted against local rivals Manchester City, who finished second in Group A.

The Red Devils emerged 2-0 winners, thanks to a first-half goal from Melvine Malard, assisted by goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce, and a second from Gabby George, who curled her effort in at the near post.

The final saw United come up against German champions Bayern Munich. Midfielder Simi Awujo opened the scoring with a powerful strike into the roof of the net.

Bayern equalised through Momoko Tanikawa and sealed the win with a goal from Sarah Zadrazil, handing Manchester United a narrow 2-1 defeat.

Awujo finished the competition as United’s top scorer with three goals and was named the Breakout Star of the tournament.

Despite falling short in the final, Manchester United earned $1 million for their second-place finish in the World Sevens tournament.

The competition awarded a $2.5 million prize to the winners.
