Arne Slot couldn't confirm whether Liverpool were set for a blockbuster summer transfer market but claimed those they are eyeing "look positive". The Reds have just celebrated Premier League success with all eyes now on their recruitment.

Slot has performed impressively with the squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp. He opted against adding to the group with the Merseysiders particularly quiet 12 months ago. This time round though they are tipped to be far more productive in terms of arrivals.

Liverpool's focus has been on retaining their top talent with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah opting to remain at Anfield, but Slot insists he and the hierarchy are aligned in their vision as they look to add to an already impressive squad that won the top flight at a canter.

The departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold leaves a hole at right-back whilst there are calls for the Reds to bolster their frontline so to ease the reliance on Salah.

Slot told the Sky Sports: "I don't know if it's going to be a lot but we know, the club, Richard [Hughes], the ownership, we are all aligned on what we are trying to achieve. It is already very, very positive that we kept Mo and Virgil and a few others that we are trying to sign look positive.

"We are very happy with the squad that we have. This club has always shown that if they can strengthen, that's what we do. Big summer or not, it is already big because we won the league."

Liverpool have been linked with Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez and they remain in the hunt for Florian Wirtz, who is expected to leave Bayer Leverkusen. It is the Reds and Bayern Munich going after the £127million-rate playmaker with Manchester City backing out of the race.

Slot insists there will not be wholesale changes at Liverpool nor will they rip up their tactics following a title-winning season. However he concedes they will be challenged more next term as he remains open and eager to bolster the squad.

The Dutchman said: "It would be weird if I played completely differently because we have just won the league, but we have to adapt. You always have to try to become better. We have to improve with these players and if there is a possibility to strengthen with the other players too. Next season the competition will be better as well."
