Manchester United have named a 32-man travelling squad for their upcoming post-season tour of Asia.
The Red Devils will take on the ASEAN All-Stars in Malaysia and then face a Hong Kong XI in China later this week, as they wrap up a turbulent campaign with a commercial and developmental tour.
Noussair Mazraoui will miss the trip after suffering a hamstring injury against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Leny Yoro will also sit out due to a minor fitness concern, while Andre Onana and Alejandro Garnacho have made the flight to Asia.
Manager Ruben Amorim has brought along more than ten exciting academy talents, giving them a golden opportunity to impress on the big stage.
Defensive cover will come from Dan Armer, Tyler Fredricson, Jaydan Kamason, Godwill Kukonki, Harry Amass, and Reece Munro.
In midfield and attack, the likes of Tyler Fletcher, Sekou Kone, Jack Moorhouse, Jim Thwaites, Shea Lacey, and Chido Obi will be hoping to catch the eye of Amorim and stake their claim.
Fredricson, Amass, and Obi have already tasted senior football under Amorim this season.
All three have showcased immense potential and could be integrated into the first-team picture more permanently next season.
With Mazraoui sidelined, Jaydan Kamason may finally get his chance after spending the second half of the season on the fringes of the senior squad.
The 18-year-old full-back is known for his explosive pace and fearless forward runs.
Amorim needs a quality attacking wing-back in his ranks and Kamason has the potential to fill that spot.
The addition of Jack Moorhouse and Jim Thwaites is also interesting, considering that United are looking for Christian Eriksen’s replacement.
Moorhouse is a powerful, driving midfielder who has built a reputation for bursting past lines with his ball-carrying ability.
Thwaites is a press-resistant passer capable of breaking lines and escaping tight spaces with ease.
Shea Lacey is highly rated at the youth level but the teenager has had a poor injury record.
Without those setbacks, the teenage playmaker might already have found himself knocking on the first-team door.
Lacey possesses a magician’s vision and dazzling dribbling skills, reminiscent of Spanish wizard David Silva.
United will hope these two exhibition games not only generate revenue but also provide Amorim with deeper insight into which of these youngsters are ready to make the leap to senior football.
