Eagles Draft Pick Called Best Addition of 2025 Offseason

It has been a quiet offseason for the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. After being one of the more aggressive teams last year, the Eagles opted for a more patient approach since their victory in Super Bowl LIX.

Despite minimal free agent signings, though, the Eagles still found a way to acquire some top talent.

With the 31st overall pick in the 2025 draft, Philadelphia selected linebacker Jihaad Campbell out of Alabama. Campbell was considered a top prospect in the current class of rookies.

Injuries to his shoulder and knees, though, pushed him all the way to Philadelphia.

That's ok for the Eagles, though. Campbell is expected to make an immediate impact once healthy on their elite defense.

It's why Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski called the move Philadelphia's "most dangerous new addition" of the offseason.

"Welp, he finally did it with the selection of Alabama's Jihaad Campbell. Or did he? Campbell served as an edge-defender for the Crimson Tide before making the full-time conversion to off-ball linebacker," Sobleski said "Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio can use him in a variety of manners to disguise defenses and create pressure different pressure packages to confuse opposing quarterbacks."

Campbell joins a linebacker room led by First-Team All-Pro Zack Baun, and veteran leader Nakobe Dean. Despite the core of potential starters, Campbell's upside makes him an intriguing piece in Philly's defense.

If he can stay healthy, the Eagles will have come away with one of the best young defenders in the league. Again!
