What happens when you mix a seven-time Super Bowl champion with a seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion? The joyride of a lifetime.
When FOX Sports took over the broadcast rights to the NTT IndyCar Series this year, we should've known it would get its stars involved.
During the network's first broadcast of the iconic "Greatest Spectacle in Racing," former NFL stars Michael Strahan and Tom Brady were in separate spotlights.
Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion, rode in the traditional two-seat IndyCar during the parade laps, driven by seven-time NASCAR CUP Series champion Jimmie Johnson. "This is incredible," the NFL on FOX analyst said. "Jimmie driving, all the fans here, I can't believe this is the first time I've ever been here."
Brady also appears in IndyCar on FOX commercials that run to promote the series and the network's new partnership.
Former New York Giants pass rusher and current FOX NFL analyst Michael Strahan drove the Chevrolet Corvette pace car during the parade laps before the race.
The start of the race was delayed about 30 minutes due to light rain falling on parts of the track, but in the end, Spain's Alex Palou crossed the finish line first for Chip Ganassi Racing under the checkered and yellow flags after a car spun and hit the wall on the final lap It was the three-time series champion's first Indy 500 win.
How fun would it be if, after Brady's experience on track on Sunday, he got involved as an IndyCar team owner? He would be the second Hall of Famer involved in ownership after NFL icon Walter Payton owned "Payton-Coyne Racing" in from 1988 - the year after his retirement from football - until his death in 1999.
