Update on Warriors Potentially Targeting NBA Champion Center

The Golden State Warriors likely didn't think they'd be sitting at home watching the NBA Playoffs.

The ending to their season was heartbreaking. It didn't seem they ever got a real chance after Stephen Curry suffered a hamstring injury in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals.

While they did take Game 1, they could not replicate that success and dropped the final four games.

Update on Warriors' pursuit of NBA Champion

Even before the series against the Timberwolves, the Warriors had one evident weakness: size.

Draymond Green has always stretched the floor and rebounded well for his size, but he was simply overpowered when opponents sent a double-big lineup at him.

As a result, the Warriors are expected to pursue a true center in the offseason after Quienten Post and Trayce Jackson-Davis weren't enough.

According to ESPN NBA Insider Bobby Marks, the Warriors could add Brook Lopez.

However, they'll likely have competition, as the Lakers will likely be in the mix.

While he's far from young, Lopez has the ability to anchor the paint and stretch the floor with his shooting.

Lopez started 80 games for the Milwaukee Bucks this season and averaged 13 points per game with five rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game. He also shot 37.3% from deep this past season, the second-best mark of his career.

Lopez would be a great fit on either team, but if the Warriors want to give Curry and Steve Kerr one more chance at a title, Lopez anchoring the paint could be their best bet.
