Normally after a decisive Super Bowl victory, championship organizations and players have a hard time coming down from the euphoria that NFL immortality can bring.
Not Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, though.
Just days after the team's 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, Brown made a social media post essentially stating his desire to prepare for the following season already.
That level of concentration and fire to be the best is a welcome sight for Eagles fans everywhere. Some, though, felt that the All-Pro wasn't enjoying the end to the journey that brought the city their second Lombardi trophy.
During OTAs this week, Brown admitted how his mindset ultimately led him down this path.
“Coming into the league, we were taught we’re playing for this reason. We’re playing for this trophy. And once we got the trophy, it was just like I thought everything would be fulfilled, like the hard work and everything," Brown said. "But no, it’s the journey. It’s the journey that matters the most and that means the most.
"Because those are the moments you look back at with your teammates that you’re spending time with and going to war, you’re suffering together and you’re winning together."
Brown has been a lightning rod for the Eagles since the team acquired him in 2022. The team was undefeated in games he and quarterback Jalen Hurts started and finished together in 2024.
As the organization looks to repeat as Super Bowl champions, Brown's mindset is just a clear example of the goals he has for himself, and his team.
