76ers Make Likely Decision on Blockbuster Paul George Trade: Report

The Philadelphia 76ers didn't have the best first season with Paul George. Injuries took over George and their main star, Joel Embiid. This led them to be shut down for the rest of the season, limiting them to playing fewer than 50 games. Even their third option, Tyrese Maxey, was shut down before the season ended and only played 52 games.

Heading into the offseason, there are a few questions about what the organization will decide regarding George's future. With his four-year, $212 million maximum contract, the Sixers didn't get the production they would've liked from the veteran star.

George averaged 16.2 points and 5.3 rebounds in 41 games last season.

There have been speculations that the Sixers could trade the six-time All-NBA. However, NBA insider Jake Fischer revealed a crucial update on a potential blockbuster trade. Fischer said on "The Stein Line" that Philly will likely keep George and run it back with Embiid and Maxey.

"Don't expect that duo, furthermore, to be broken up. Sources say that recent reports suggesting that the Sixers will be looking to explore George's trade market in conjunction with the draft are a misread," Fischer wrote.

"There have been no indications that they are looking to package George with the No. 3 pick or try to move him on his own."

Fischer added that the Sixers believe the organization might not get a favorable trade return if they exercise a deal with George. The insider also reported that the franchise won't look to end their partnership with the star in the early stages of his tenure in Philadelphia. That is, unless the nine-time All-Star asks for a trade.

Ever since the Sixers got the No. 3 pick at the draft lottery, there have been rumors that the organization will package it with George on a trade.
