The Premier League has officially concluded, and all 20 clubs are set to receive their annual prize money payout. In the previous season, clubs shared £2.84 billion from the league, receiving six payments from the 'central revenue system'.

The Premier League claims this system "ensures the most equitable distribution of funds of any major European league", with each club guaranteed to receive over £100 million. As the league winners, Liverpool will earn the highest amount in Arne Slot's inaugural season as manager.

In the previous season, Manchester City, the league champions, earned a total of £175.9 million, while runners-up Arsenal received £175.5 million. Certain payments are fixed, with all 20 clubs receiving an equal share of domestic and international broadcast rights, which totalled £86.9 million last season.

Additionally, each club received £8.2 million from the league's central commercial revenue streams. Clubs also receive merit payments based on their league finish and facility fees based on the number of times their games were televised during the season.

Sheffield United, having finished at the bottom of the league, received a basic merit payment of £2.8 million. The prize money is distributed on a sliding scale, with the champions receiving 20 times the basic payment, the runners-up receiving 19 times the basic payment, and so on.

The same figures are expected for this season, but the final sum won't be confirmed until the league publishes their annual report detailing each club's earnings.

The Premier League is the wealthiest in global football, as highlighted by Deloitte's most recent review of football finance which showed that the 20 clubs raked in over £6bn in revenue for the first time during the 2022-23 season.
