Everton recorded a shock victory over Newcastle on the final day of the Premier League season, and there were some outstanding performers.

David Moyes’ side headed to St James’ Park with nothing to play for on Sunday, while Newcastle were chasing a Champions League place.

However, Everton pulled off a 1-0 victory, with Jordan Pickford keeping a clean sheet against his former arch-rivals as an ex-Sunderland player.

Carlos Alcaraz scored the winner as he leapt in the air and nodded in a superb header, and Everton must now ensure they keep the Argentinian permanently.

Everton need to keep Alcaraz

Alcaraz joined Everton on loan in the winter window from Brazilian side Flamengo, and has had a hugely positive impact despite not featuring regularly under Moyes.

Alcaraz this season

Everton are said to be renegotiating a permanent transfer for Alcaraz; however, if they cannot strike a deal with Flamengo, they could lose the player.

Alcaraz has shown in his minutes what he is capable of, and Everton simply cannot afford to lose out on his permanent signing.

Alcaraz has impressed in limited minutes

Alcaraz made just seven Premier League starts this season, with nine appearances coming off the bench, and he was handed 76 minutes against Newcastle in which he oozed class.

The Argentinian has scored twice and provided three assists in this time, in just 771 minutes of Premier League action, with no consistent run in the team.

He has showcased his quality, and his latest goal was a vital one as it handed Everton all three points.

It is clear that Alcaraz should be kept and used more next season.

With Abdoulaye Doucoure leaving, Alcaraz can be his natural replacement as an attacking midfielder, and Everton cannot pass up on the opportunity to sign him permanently.

Should he join and continue to develop, his value could shoot up massively within a year, and this is a signing worth making immediately.
