Liverpool are in advanced talks to sign Florian Wirtz and boss Arne Slot played a vital role in convincing the Bayer Leverkusen ace of a move to Anfield.
The Reds have wasted no time since being named champions of the Premier League to bolster their squad even further with new talent. They have already moved to acquire Jeremie Frimpong's services, with the Dutchman expected to succeed the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold at right back.
Now, Liverpool are looking to make a statement signing by adding Wirtz to their squad in an attempt to strengthen their chances of lifting more major titles next season.
What Slot Told Wirtz Ahead of Liverpool Switch
He played a 'crucial role' in the Move
Fabrizio Romano has exclusively revealed in his GIVEMESPORT column that Wirtz is closer than ever to a move to Liverpool, and Slot was key in the process. The Dutch tactician presented the Merseyside outfit's long-term project and ambition to win silverware, alongside his plans for Wirtz on a tactical and personal level.

One of the best young players in the world, Wirtz was sought-after by the likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester City. The two European giants dropped out of the race to land the German, and Liverpool sprinted ahead in an attempt to wrap up the deal before any surprises. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed that it should be a matter of days before the deal is completed.
"The hope of Liverpool is to get it done quick and to have the 'here we go' very soon for one of the best signings in recent years, in my personal view."
The Italian journalist also noted that the total package will likely exceed €100 million (£84 million), while Sky Sports' Sacha Tavolieri has indicated that Wirtz will pocket £325,000 per week in wages as part of a five-year contract. Such a salary would make the 22-year-old the third-highest paid player at the club behind Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.
