Manchester United have been handed a boost in signing one of the Premier League’s in-form wingers this summer.
The Red Devils are planning for a busy transfer window and there could be multiple additions to the club’s attack.
United have already reached a verbal agreement to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha this summer.
It has been also reported that the club are exploring a separate deal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.
The hierarchy have now been handed a boost with Bees manager Thomas Frank opening the door for his departure.
Speaking on BBC Match of the Day yesterday, Frank said that the club have an advantage of extending the contracts of Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa for another 12 months (June 2027).
However, the 51-year-old added that the Bees are a selling club and they are open to parting ways with the attacking duo if the right bid comes in during the summer transfer window.
He said: “That gives us a little bit of an advantage. We’ll decide for ourselves if we want to sell them or not.
“But I’ve said many times before that we’re a selling club. If the right bid comes in, we’re open. Of course I’d like to keep them.”
In our view, the Red Devils have been handed an incentive to negotiate Mbeumo’s transfer from Brentford.
The Cameroon international had an exceptional league campaign with 20 goals and eight assists from 38 matches.
Mbeumo was able to stay unscathed unlike the 2023/24 season. His progress should grab the eye of elite clubs.
United are known to be interested in signing him which suggests that Cunha could play up top.
The Brazilian has been a specialist striker for most of his career and could revert to the same role for the Red Devils.
Mbeumo would be a fabulous signing. He has a shot-to-goal conversion rate of 24 percent this term.
The 25-year-old has squandered just nine big chances in the league while creating 17 clear-cut scoring opportunities.
Amad Diallo has done exceptionally well as a right-sided number 10, but United need strong competition for places next term.
Mbeumo would be a perfect addition to the ranks. We could see both playing with Amad slotting in as a right wing-back.
Brentford are reportedly eyeing £60 million for the right-sided attacker.
United are poised to pay a similar package for Cunha in instalments. A similar deal could easily be agreed for Mbeumo.
The Re Devils can recoup most of the funds from Alejandro Garnacho’s exit. Ruben Amorim has told him to find a new club.
