Ruben Amorim addressed Manchester United fans with a powerful speech following the final game of the 2024/25 season.
Manchester United beat Aston Villa 2-0 at Old Trafford to conclude a disappointing season, thanks to goals from Amad Diallo and Christian Eriksen.
Eriksen scored his first Premier League goal of the season in his final appearance for the club. United fans also said goodbye to Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans, who will depart once their contracts expire next month.
In Amorim’s post-season speech directed towards the Old Trafford faithful, he admitted the season has been “disastrous” but promised the good times are coming, referencing how the club has overcome disasters in the past.
Ineos hope to recruit well ahead of the 2025/26 season to give Amorim every chance of competing in the Premier League rather than finishing in the bottom half of the table.
Amorim has the support of the fans, despite an underwhelming start to life in England, after losing the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.
The United head coach also stressed that everyone in the squad faces a choice – whether to fight each other or stick together.

Amorim did not hide away from the poor results his team has suffered when he addressed the fans, who will admire his honesty.
He knows the results are simply not good enough and apologised for what has happened this season.
Manchester United shared Amorim’s speech on Instagram, which led to reactions from Dimitar Berbatov and Gary Neville, two players who know what it takes to be successful at Old Trafford.
Former United striker Berbatov commented: “Let’s gooo! Keep the faith.”
Meanwhile, ex-United captain Neville left a ‘clapping’ emoji in the comment section.
Amorim’s speech was uplifting, and everyone at United hopes it leads to better results next season.
Alex Stepney hails Amorim’s honesty
Amorim has been honest about United’s situation since he took the job in November.
His post-season speech was no different, as observed by European Cup-winner Alex Stepney.
The former United goalkeeper took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to wish Amorim luck after a difficult first six months at the club.
Stepney made 539 appearances for United, keeping 175 clean sheets and scoring two goals.
