Leeds United can sign Kostas Tsimikas for no more than £15million and immediately improve their starting XI, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about Leeds’ chances of signing the Liverpool left-back.

Tsimikas is set to be pushed further towards the fringes at Anfield as Liverpool close in on the signature of Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, and this could open the door for Leeds to buy the Greek international.

Sources have now told Football Insider that Liverpool won’t demand a huge transfer fee for Tsimikas with the 29-year-old set for an exit, and would likely accept a bid in the region of £12–15m this summer.

Leeds‘ left-back stocks would be boosted significantly if they were to sign Tsimikas, with Junior Firpo out of contract and in line to leave Elland Road and Farke’s second-choice Sam Byram in the same position.

Football Insider sources have said that Tsimikas would become number one on the left side of Leeds’ defence immediately, and with two years left on his Liverpool contract, the Reds won’t stand in his way.

Leeds to get immediate upgrade with £15m Tsimikas transfer

Although Firpo has become a cult hero at Elland Road and few fans would bemoan a new contract for the Dominican, Paul Robinson told Football Insider that Leeds need an upgrade at left-back next season.

Speaking on the new Inside Track, O’Rourke said that Kerkez’s arrival at Anfield will set the wheels in motion for Tsimikas to find pastures new, and Leeds are well placed to wrap up the cut-price transfer.

“Obviously [Tsimikas] is facing an uncertain future at Anfield this summer”, he told Football Insider.

“It does look like Liverpool are trying to push ahead with a deal for Milos Kerkez, and if the Hungarian was to arrive, that would push Tsimikas even further down the pecking order.

“Leeds are going to be in the market for a new left-back in this summer’s window with Junior Firpo likely to leave… [Tsimikas] could come straight into that team and improve them.

“He’s under contract until 2027 so I don’t think Liverpool would command a huge transfer fee if they were to sell Tsimikas – you are probably looking between £12–15million maybe, for Liverpool to sell him.”

Leeds ready to take aggressive summer transfer approach

Left-back is far from the only position which Farke needs to address this summer, after Football Insider revealed that Leeds see just six members of their current squad as ready-made Premier League starters.

With goalkeeper and centre-forward the priority positions for Leeds this summer, steps have been taken to sign Dynamo Kyiv’s Vladyslav Vanat after Football Insider revealed the value of his release clause.

Leeds are also ready to make good on their interest in Tsimikas with an offer ready and waiting to go when the transfer window opens, and there’s little doubt that he’s a far more solid top-flight option than Firpo and Byram.
