Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s ‘special’ message to Celtic-bound Kieran Tierney

It won’t be long now until Kieran Tierney’s Arsenal exit becomes official and he joins Celtic in the summer.

Tierney’s contract expires at the end of June and after that, he will head to Celtic and re-join Brendan Rodgers in Paradise.

The Arsenal defender agreed to move to Scotland at the end of his contract after Rodgers confirmed Tierney will join Celtic this summer.

And in true fairy tale style, Tierney ended his Arsenal stay with a goal in his final appearance as The Gunners beat Southampton 2-1 in the last game of the season.

Mikel Arteta’s classy farewell as Kieran Tierney makes his Arsenal exit to Celtic

Tierney was a clear fan favourite at Arsenal and, at times, they have been dismayed at their club’s decision to allow him to leave and join Celtic.

And now, as the reality of the Scotland defender’s Arsenal exit comes true, Arteta sent Tierney a classy message as the Celtic-supporting Tierney prepares for a return to Parkhead.

Arteta told Arsenal.com, “He said it yesterday, I’m going to score on my last Arsenal match and he’s done it! So, credit to him, a special thank you to him.

“He’s been part of the journey and he’s won with me. It’s true that he went to Sociedad for a few months, but it’s been a joy to work with him, a really special character.

“We wish him and his family all the very best. The doors of this club are open for him – he’s someone very, very liked at the club, in the dressing room and we want to wish him the best.
