One of Manchester United’s young talents has reportedly commanded his agent to call Real Madrid to sort a transfer to Spain this summer, with Rúben Amorim’s latest comments telling.
Manchester United’s summer has kicked off at pace, with Rúben Amorim already making bold decisions about the squad he wants for the upcoming season.
Jonny Evans, Christian Eriksen, and Victor Lindelöf will all depart when their contracts expire next month, while Amorim has reportedly informed Alejandro Garnacho that he is free to find a new club.
The Portuguese coach is aiming to strengthen in several key areas, with attacking reinforcements and a new midfielder high on the agenda as preparations intensify.
United’s recruitment team are focused on bringing in players who can better cope with the Premier League’s physical intensity—an area where Amorim’s teams have previously struggled, especially when facing direct, high-tempo opposition.
There is a shared understanding internally that a tougher, more dynamic squad is essential if United are to compete across multiple fronts and return to the league’s top tier.
Garnacho wants Real Madrid move this summer
Garnacho reportedly wants to join Real Madrid, according to claims made by the Spanish outlet DefensaCentral. The report states that the player has informed his agent of his desire to sign for Los Blancos when the window opens.
His representatives are said to have contacted the La Liga side about the feasibility of a summer transfer at Garnacho’s request, with United demanding around £60 million for the player. According to various reports, Garnacho wants to leave the club immediately.
Despite this, the manager remained coy about Garnacho’s future in his post-match press conference after the win against Aston Villa, maintaining that he does not know what the future holds for the player.
Napoli and Chelsea both wanted the Argentine last season, and they are anticipated to be in the running for his signature this summer. Antonio Conte is a huge fan of Garnacho.
Amorim unsure of Garnacho’s future
Culture is king, and Garnacho’s antics have clearly been an issue this season and have been for a long time. Bruno Fernandes has previously spoken in an interview about the player’s attitude, and his brother, Roberto, ‘s behaviour on social media has not improved things in recent months.
Despite this, however, Amorim is unsure if the player will remain at the club next season, which does not totally rule out his staying. The manager spoke about Garnacho after the game, suggesting he is still a United player at the moment and has no current indications that will change.

“Garnacho is one more player of Manchester United, so I don’t know what is going to happen in the future. He is a normal player,” Amorim said.
United already have an incoming replacement in Matheus Cunha, should their academy winger leave. Cunha suits the system much better than Garnacho, and more signings will come in the next few weeks.
The departures of Marcus Rashford and Antony, as well as Jadon Sancho and Garnacho, mean the forward line needs to be strengthened in the window. Cunha is one man in the door, and it will be intriguing to see who follows the Brazilian in.
