‘I think’: Alan Shearer and Micah Richards completely disagree over what will happen to Ange Postecoglou now

Tottenham’s season ended with a whimper rather than a bang in the Premier League.

Indeed, Spurs didn’t capitalise on any of the momentum gained from winning the Europa League on Wednesday as they lost 4-1 to Brighton in their final league game of the season on Sunday.

Massive question marks still remain over Ange Postecoglou’s future. Postecoglou was set for the sack at one point, but now, things may have changed, even if Spurs’ squad are split on the manager.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Alan Shearer and Micah Richards have shared their verdicts on whether Ange Postecoglou will now leave Tottenham, and they see things differently here.

Alan Shearer and Micah Richards disagree over Ange Postecoglou’s future

Shearer and Richards gave their verdicts on if Postecoglou would still be at Tottenham next season.

Shearer believes the Spurs boss is on his way out, noting that he didn’t sound confident in his position in his post-match interview.

Meanwhile, Richards disagreed, claiming that he does see Postecoglou at Tottenham next season.

“They put their season into the cup, which they had to win, and they won it, they won the trophy and they’re in the Champions League,” Shearer said.

“It’s not good enough in the league, but they won’t look upon this season as anything to do with the league.

“Do you think he’ll be there next season?” Lineker asked.

“It doesn’t sound like it, no, even with his words at the end in the interview when he says ‘hopefully I’ll be there for pre-season,’ no,” Shearer said.

“I think he will,” Richards added.”

Ange Postecoglou compared to other Tottenham managers

This is a very tricky situation to predict.

On one hand, Ange Postecoglou has done a terrible job at Tottenham domestically, Spurs have just finished 17th in the table, and, in another world, they could’ve been relegated this season.

However, a trophy and Champions League qualification does mask those issues, and you can’t argue with the success Postecoglou has had on that front.

The stats do show though that perhaps Postecoglou’s time at Tottenham should be up.

Daniel Levy has a tough decision to make here, and, no matter what he decides, Spurs need to be decisive and act quickly.
