Just in: Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool have made £84m+ bid to sign 'elite' star

Liverpool have submitted a bid for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz worth in excess of €100m (£84m), journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The Premier League champions have reportedly formalised their interest in the 'elite' Germany international with an initial proposal and are aiming to complete the deal ‘very soon’.

Wirtz is believed to have informed Leverkusen that his priority is to join Liverpool this summer, alongside teammate Jeremie Frimpong, who is now set to arrive at Anfield in a £30m deal.

A move worth more than €100m for Wirtz could make him Liverpool’s record signing, potentially surpassing the £85m they paid for Darwin Nunez in 2022.
