Transfer news LIVE!

We are quickly closing in on the opening of the first of two summer transfer windows as Arsenal appear to be turning their attentions towards some new targets. With seemingly no progress made yet over the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko, and wages proving a stumbling block for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, the Gunners are now said to be looking at AC Milan forward Rafael Leao, as well as Brighton star Kaoru Mitoma and Ademola Lookman.

Arsenal are also being linked with a shock move to secure the return of former goalkeeper Emi Martinez, while Manchester United are keen on Mike Maignan, along with Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and Joao Pedro. Liverpool are believed to have made a huge contract offer to Florian Wirtz and are also interested in Pedro as they begin talks with Bournemouth over Milos Kerkez.

Chelsea have Liam Delap in their sights still and could rival Arsenal for Gyokeres, while Kevin De Bruyne will travel for talks with Napoli as Barcelona look at Marcus Rashford and Luis Diaz and speculation continues over a possible move for Cristiano Ronaldo in time for the Club World Cup. Xabi Alonso’s appointment as the new Real Madrid boss has also now been confirmed. Follow all the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip live below!

Amorim makes Garnacho decision for Man Utd post-season tour

Alejandro Garnacho will join Manchester United on the squad's pre-season tour despite being told to find a new club this summer.

Garnacho was on Saturday told by manager Ruben Amorim that he has no future at the club, having days earlier spoken publicly on his displeasure at being omitted from the Europa League final starting line-up.

United embark on a money-spinning post-season tour straight after the game, where they will play two teams in Hong Kong before finally dropping the curtain on a "disastrous season".

Asked about Garnacho on Sunday, Amorim told TNT Sports: "Garnacho is a Manchester United player that is not in the squad today but he continues to be a Manchester United player."

"Everybody's going [to Hong Kong] because we have to go to meet our fans and give something to our fans on the other side of the world."

Real Madrid confirm Xabi Alonso as new manager

Real Madrid have now publicly confirmed the appointment of Xabi Alonso as their new manager.

The Spaniard leaves Bayer Leverkusen one year after their memorable unbeaten domestic double success to return to the Bernabeu, where he made 236 total appearances as a player between 2009-14 and won six major trophies.

Alonso has signed a three-year contract to succeed Carlo Ancelotti, who is leaving Madrid for the second time after the disappointment of a rare trophyless campaign to become the new head coach of the Brazilian national team.

Alonso will be officially presented at the Bernabeu in a special event held with fans and media on Monday.
