Liverpool player appears to hint that he's leaving club with emotional post after Premier League title win

A growing number of Liverpool fans are convinced that one of their first-team players will leave the club this summer after he penned an emotional post on social media following their final game of the season.

Arne Slot's side celebrated their Premier League triumph in front of a jubilant Anfield crowd on Sunday as the Reds were presented with the trophy following a 1-1 draw against recently-crowned FA Cup winners Crystal Palace.

It was an emotional moment for many, including the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold, who will leave his boyhood club for Real Madrid this summer following a lengthy transfer saga.

The defender was overcome with emotion as he received a heartwarming farewell from the Anfield crowd, and even declared his Liverpool finale was "the best day of his life" as he waved goodbye to those in attendance.

Another player who appeared to shed tears on Sunday afternoon was Harvey Elliott, the England U21 international who has been strongly linked with a move away from the Premier League champions.

Earlier this month, Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg reported that the 22-year-old midfielder, who was once hailed as a "sensational talent" by Jurgen Klopp, is being tracked by a number of interested parties.

"A departure of Harvey Elliott is possible," wrote Plettenberg on X. "There are many interesting enquiries, and talks are ongoing. Liverpool would not stand in his way if a suitable offer comes in. His contract runs until 2027."

The former Fulham man, who joined Liverpool in 2019, has made 28 appearances in all competitions for the Reds this season, but the majority of those have come from the substitutes bench. In fact, he has made just six starts, including one in the Premier League.

After the full-time whistle on Sunday, Elliott took to Instagram to pen an emotional message. He wrote: “Memories for life. Thank you Reds.”

Here's how social media reacted to the post.

One said: "He’s leaving then," and a second commented: "He’s defo leaving by the looks of it, be a shame to see him leave but he needs regular football."

A third wrote: "One person I will genuinely miss in this squad would be Harvey Elliott. Always played for the badge and gave it his all, a true red through and through. Hope wherever he goes, he will do absolutely amazing."

A fourth said: "Absolutely gutted for the lad if he is having to get off... last thing he wants I imagine," and a fifth added: "Looks like he’s gone. Shame."

Speaking to LFCTV during Sunday afternoon's celebrations, Elliott appeared to suggest that his time at Anfield could be coming to an end, saying that “you never know what’s going to happen” amid reports surrounding his future.

“I think this one, I’ve played more of a part in winning the league,” he said, referring back to the club's Premier League title win in 2019/20. “The season that we won it last time I was still a young kid, I think I only made four appearances or something like that.

“So now it definitely feels like I’ve been in and around it a lot.

“Since coming back from my injury I’ve been in every squad, so just being part of it, just doing the travelling, the away games, all the stuff outside of playing, it feels a lot greater this time. I’m just trying to enjoy every experience of it, because you never know what’s going to happen."

He added: “You can’t take these moments for granted, you just need to enjoy it as much as you can, celebrate as much as you can as well.”
