Former Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish faces an uncertain future at Man City
Manchester City ace Jack Grealish has taken to social media to react after the team's recent win over Fulham, amidst speculation about his future at the club.
Having not being included in the matchday squad for City's 2-0 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage, Grealish’s situation has led to rumours about his career at the Etihad Stadium coming to an end.
The England international has been tentatively linked with a return to Aston Villa this summer, though missing out on the Champions League after the 2-0 defeat to Manchester United will likely impact any potential return.
When quizzed about Grealish's absence, City boss Pep Guardiola offered a non-committal answer. "It was selection," he explained to the Manchester Evening News.
"The last two months, month and a half, there were five or six players at home every time and this time I decided for these guys. No more than that."
Guardiola acknowledged Grealish's talent and need for regular play, saying: "Of course Jack has to play. He's an unbelievable player that has to play football every three days. It didn't happen this season and last season either.
"He needs to do it - with us or another place. It's a question for Jack, his agent, and the club."
"If he stays it will be fine and he fought like he fought from day one to make a contribution but not today. For example the FA Cup final I rotated and Rico and Macca were not there and Khusanov and Vitor and Echeverri were here so it's the same.
"I tried to move the players like it was there and today it was Jack, no more than that."
The 29 year old, who made the switch to City for a whopping £100 million from Villa Park back in 2021, has featured in just 715 minutes of Premier League action this term over 20 outings. He's managed to find the back of the net once and set up another goal.
He did enjoy more success away from the Premier League, racking up a dozen more appearances across different competitions, clocking up 806 minutes, netting two goals and laying on four assists.
Grealish might not have had the easiest run this season, yet he proved to be a team player off the pitch, showing his support for his fellow City squad members on social media post their triumph over Fulham.
He 'liked' Instagram updates from goal scorers Ilkay Gundogan and Erling Haaland.
Gundogan, took to social media with a series of snaps under the headline: "Great result - Champions League football secured! ! ! Thanks for your support in this very challenging season."
Norweigian star Haaland popped a celebratory pic online with the caption: "Finishing the @premierleague season with a win!".
