Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap is ‘widely expected’ to join Manchester United this summer, The Telegraph journalist John Percy has revealed.
The England U21 international has no shortage of suitors after his impressive debut Premier League season but is now anticipated to choose Old Trafford as his next career destination.
The Red Devils have earmarked Delap as their priority option up front as they aim to sign a new number nine alongside Wolves star Matheus Cunha, who is now expected to be Ruben Amorim’s first summer signing.
United have reached a verbal agreement with all parties involved over the 25-year-old’s arrival and are expected to pay his £62.5m release clause in instalments.

According to Percy, Delap has also attracted interest from Nottingham Forest ahead of his anticipated summer departure from Portman Road, although Man United are believed to be at the front of the queue at the moment.
The 21-year-old 'beast' forward is available for just £30m on the market after Ipswich’s relegation from the Premier League and is expected to leave just 12 months after joining on a long-term deal from Manchester City.
Delap, who could demand wages of £150,000 per week, impressed in his debut top-flight campaign under Kieran McKenna, scoring 12 goals and providing two assists in 37 appearances.
Man United are believed to have earmarked Viktor Gyokeres as another striker target, but a move for the Sweden international now looks difficult.
The 26-year-old forward would prefer to join a Champions League club this summer, and United missed out on qualification last week after losing to Tottenham in the Europa League final.
