Luckhurst: Manchester United prepared to sell any player in transfer window

Man United's defeat in the Europa League final last week confirmed their worst season in 51 years and another squad rebuild is required.

Manchester United would consider offers for any player this summer in response to the club's worst season in 51 years.

Multiple sources say United players under contract have been informed that none of them are absolutely assured of remaining at the club next season.

Alejandro Garnacho, tagged not for sale last summer, was told by United head coach Ruben Amorim he can leave for an acceptable fee after he criticised the decision to bench him in the Europa League final defeat.

United decision-makers have decided no player should be regarded as "untouchable" after a trophyless campaign in which they finished just three places above the relegation zone.

Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes both cast doubt on their futures in the immediate aftermath of the demoralising defeat to Spurs on Wednesday night. Fernandes, 30, is generating interest from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.

United's failure to qualify for Europe for only the second time in 35 years means the club will miss out on around £180million in prize money, matchday revenue and sponsorship.

The club admitted to a fans' group earlier in the season that they were at risk of breaching the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules, which has contributed to their receptiveness to listen to any offers.

Barring sudden sizeable offers, some players are almost certain of staying at the club beyond the summer. United bought 19-year-old defender Leny Yoro in a €70m deal from Lille in July while Amad signed a five-and-a-half-year contract in January. Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven only joined in the winter transfer window.

Andre Onana wants to stay at United and the club are privately offering backing for the beleaguered goalkeeper. Onana, 29, would struggle to generate a market in Europe but could be of interest to Saudi clubs. United are still planning for next season with Onana in their squad even though they want to recruit a new goalkeeper.

United want to sell loanees Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia. Senior figures at the club have lost faith in misfiring striker Rasmus Hojlund and doubts surfaced over summer recruit Joshua Zirkzee earlier in the season.

Kobbie Mainoo rejected United's opening offer of a new contract earlier this year and he has failed to cement himself as a starter under Amorim. Mainoo's agent, David Lockwood, has taken over the representation of a number of United academy players in recent years.

United are likely to be saddled with the injury-prone Luke Shaw and Mason Mount. Lisandro Martinez is recovering from rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in February and is effectively unsellable.

Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen will be released while Jonny Evans is expected to retire.
