Hundreds of thousands of Liverpool fans are expected to line the city centre streets and beyond today as Liverpool FC parade the Premier League title for the first time in their history. Yesterday, a sea of red emerged across the region as the club lifted their 20th league title in front of fans at Anfield.
The party atmosphere could also be felt outside Anfield as flares were let off and flags were waved. In the city centre, roads were closed as fans of the Reds spilled out onto the streets after the full time whistle.
The real celebrations take place today, May 26. The parade is part of what has been an action-packed weekend on Merseyside, with events including BBC’s Radio 1 Big Weekend and the arrival of the Cunard Queen Anne cruise ship.
