Sky Sports: Liverpool now keen to sign Brazilian "superstar" for Arne Slot, it's not Rodrygo

Liverpool could make a move for Brighton star Joao Pedro in the summer transfer window, according to reports - with the Reds looking to bolster their ranks immediately despite winning the Premier League via a move for the Brazilian forward.

Florian Wirtz looks set to join in the coming days, which would be a real statement signing and a marquee addition to Arne Slot's squad, whilst the likes of Milos Kerkez and more are firmly on their radar as a huge summer looms. And that could see them land Pedro, with the Reds thought to be 'keen' on the former Watford star alongside international teammate Rodrygo.

There have been no bids for the Brazilian so far, though a fee is likely to be in the region of over £50million, with the forward on the radar of multiple clubs - but Liverpool's recent Premier League title win and subsequent Champions League qualification would likely put them at the front of the queue.

The Reds have seen Darwin Nunez once again fail to convince Anfield chiefs that he is the man to lead their forward line after an inconsistent campaign, whilst Diogo Jota has found game time difficult to come by on Merseyside with just 14 in the Premier League - and so Dutch boss Slot has taken steps to progress them further by earmarking Pedro as a potential target.

The former Fluminense man, coined an 'absolute superstar' by journalist Charlie Haffenden, joined Watford in 2020, and with 24 goals in 109 games for them in all competitions, that saw him move to the AMEX Stadium, where he has notched 19 goals in 58 games for the club, piquing the interest of various clubs across the country.

His link-up play and versatility to play anywhere across the wide areas, up front and behind the striker is a huge bonus, and Liverpool could look to utilise that alongside moves for other players in the summer window to keep themselves known as the best club in the country after winning the Premier League this time around.
