Liam Delap is a wanted man this summer, with Everton one of a host of clubs interested in his services.

Despite being relegated with Ipswich Town, the striker has shown enough potential to draw the eyes of Premier League clubs.

While Everton face stiff competition for his signature, an announcement on the 22-year-old’s future is fast approaching.

Delap set to decide his future

The Ipswich man is one of the country’s brightest prospects, and bagged a respectable 12 goals in his first full top-flight season.

What is impressive about those goals is that they were scored for a team who have been relegated without a whimper.

Indeed, Delap bagged exactly a third of the East Anglian club’s goals this season in the Premier League.

The former Manchester City man’s release clause is arguably his biggest selling point as he is available for just £30million.

That price tag combined with his potential makes him a must-have for several teams in the top flight.

It is claimed that Delap will decide his future this week before he heads off with the England Under-21s, according to Ben Jacobs via X (26 May).

The journalist goes on to state that he remains Manchester United’s top target, but Chelsea, Newcastle United and Everton have all held talks.

Delap wants a guarantee over minutes as he eyes a place in Thomas Tuchel’s 2026 World Cup squad.

While European football is important, it is not necessarily regarded as the defining factor in such a switch.

All clubs are understandably willing to pay the player’s £30million release clause, with a decision imminent.

Liam Delap is expected to decide his future this week before heading off to the Under-21 Euros. He remains Manchester United’s top choice.

Everton can trump Premier League clubs with guarantee

One thing Everton can guarantee Delap over the likes of Newcastle and United is the opportunity of first-team football.

Recent reports suggest that Matheus Cunha is to join the Red Devils, and he will be given a starting berth.

As for the Magpies, they already possess Alexander Isak, and Eddie Howe prefers to play with one striker.

That is where Everton can pip their rivals to Delap’s signature.

David Moyes has several appealing options in forward positions, with Iliman Ndiaye and Beto, but Delap would be an upgrade.

Furthermore, Delap would have the chance to lead the Toffees out in their new 52,888-seater stadium.

With an official announcement likely this week, Moyes will be praying Delap makes the right choice and joins Everton.
