Liverpool FC have made an opening bid for Florian Wirtz with the Reds looking to close the deal quickly and avoid a saga.

It has been revealed that the Reds have tabled an offer exceeding €100m.

The player, who recently visited the UK with his family, has reportedly been swayed by direct conversations with new Liverpool manager Arne Slot, whose vision for the club played a decisive role in the attacker’s decision.

Wirtz has informed Leverkusen of his desire to join Liverpool, and the Reds are now working to finalize the deal as quickly as possible to avoid any late surprises from rival clubs.

While Liverpool are prepared to pay a significant sum, it has been reported that the deal could be a structured in a way includes player swaps or add-ons to reduce the upfront cost.

Many have already questioned Liverpool’s capacity to commit over £100 million to a single player, given their recent restrained spending.

However, the club’s reserve of funds from minimal activity in previous windows, coupled with the departure of high-earning players like Trent Alexander-Arnold, means the club can spend big if they want to.

Now Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news, writing on X that an offer has been made by the Anfield club exceeding €100m with add-ons:

“Liverpool first official bid for Florian Wirtz in excess of €100m package with add-ons has been received by Bayer Leverkusen.”

“Club to club negotiations underway, restarting today to get the deal done very soon. Wirtz already told Bayer that he only wants Liverpool.”

Should the deal be completed, Wirtz would become not only Liverpool’s record signing but also the most expensive German player ever and the Bundesliga’s biggest export.
