Sheikh Jassim's stance on fresh Man Utd takeover now emerges

Qatari politician Sheikh Jassim has revealed his stance on buying Manchester United, two years after he missed out on purchasing the club. The 66-year-old previously tried to buy the Red Devils for £4.5bn in 2023, but he lost out as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS managed to get a deal done instead.

The purchase initially offered plenty of promise for United fans. After years under the Glazers, they were excited to see a fan of the club in Ratcliffe take charge. Things haven't exactly gone to plan following his arrival, however. The billionaire has rubbed supporters the wrong way already with his money-saving schemes during his time in charge. He's been extremely reluctant to invest in the side and on the pitch, things have hit an all-time low.

Two years on, many fans will wish that Sheikh Jassim had been the one to purchase United. Now, it's been revealed whether he'd be interested in making another bid for the club as their share price drops significantly after an abysmal season under Ruben Amorim.

Despite offering around £4.5bn to purchase United, Sheikh Jassim lost out when Ratcliffe paid close to £1.25bn to buy a percentage of the side instead. The process ended on a sour note for the former Prime Minister of Qatar and according to the Daily Mail, the way his dealings with the Glazers played out has put him off trying to buy the Red Devils again. Instead, he's content as is and won't be making any future bids for the side.

He, alongside the Qatar group he fronted, won't renew their interest, despite United's share price plummeting by 17% after the terrible campaign this season. United finished 15th in the Premier League, their lowest ever finish in the division and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur. According to the report, INEOS also have no interest whatsoever in walking away from Old Trafford and are prepared to keep guiding the club forward. They've already revealed plans to build a new stadium for the Red Devils.

With INEOS and Ratcliffe at the helm for the foreseeable future, United fans will be hoping that the club can finally start to turn things around after a tough decade.
