Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen scored from the penalty spot against Aston Villa on Sunday, in a much needed win for the Premier League club.
It was the Denmark international’s last game for the Red Devils, as the midfielder’s current deal at Old Trafford runs out in the summer.
After the match, the 33-year-old spoke to ViaPlay and was asked what comes next for him in his career, having now played for three clubs in England.
Eriksen made it clear he hasn’t agreed to join any club after his Manchester United contract expires and will make a decision after consulting his family.
He said, as relayed by TipsBladet: “ I don’t know if there’s much to choose from. Now the focus is on vacation, and then we’ll see if the right thing comes along that I’ll choose as a footballer and with the family. Then we’ll have to see what comes, but nothing has been signed yet.”
Eriksen made it clear that he is in no hurry to join a club and there is no guarantee that he will have agreed to anything before he plays two games for Denmark in June.
“I shouldn’t be able to say that, things move quickly in football, but right now there is nothing urgent or anything that needs to be signed before the meeting, so a lot needs to happen.”
The ex-Tottenham player had a nice ending to his Manchester United career, with Bruno Fernandes letting him take the penalty and round off an Old Trafford spell which started in 2022.
Since his arrival, Eriksen has played over 100 times for Manchester United, scoring eight goals and racking 18 assists as well.
That’s not a bad return, given Eriksen has largely been a squad player during a difficult period for the club.
