This is set to be a summer of considerable transfer activity at Leeds United. Upgrades will be required in virtually every department of the squad to give them the best possible chance of surviving in the Premier League next season.
The rumour mill is in full flight and Bayern Munich goalkeeper Daniel Peretz is the latest name to be linked with a move to Elland Road. Leading German newspaper Bild claims the Whites are among the clubs to have held discussions with the Bundesliga giants over signing the Israel international this summer.
The Israel international, recruited from Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2023, has found regular first team football hard to come by at Bayern. He has made just seven appearances for the Bundesliga champions, with only four of those outings coming under Vincent Kompany.
The BILD report states Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven are in pole position to sign Peretz. PSV will be competing in the Champions League next year.
The Whites, Burnley and Genoa are also said to be keen on signing the Peretz. The report adds that a loan move could be in the offing for the 25-year-old, although the shot-stopper has not given up hope of one day becoming Bayern's first-choice goalkeeper.
It is highly likely United will look to bring a in a new No 1 before the big kick-off. Illan Meslier, Karl Darlow and Alex Cairns are currently the options Daniel Farke has at his disposal. Darlow replaced the error-strewn Meslier at the back end of the season as the Whites finished with a flourish to secure the Championship title.
“It was an incredible end to the season, a really long season,” admitted Darlow. “We had a great string of results at the end that got us over the line, it went down to the last day for who was going to win the title, and thankfully we got over the line in the last minute. It was an incredible day and a great way to finish our season.”
